- April 6,
2009: Call for Reviewers! The occupational
section of the journal Stress and Health is
seeking to build the database of reviewers with
expertise in the OHP area. A substantial proportion
of the articles submitted to the journal fall within
the OHP area; therefore, the considerable expertise
of SOHP members would be welcome. If interested
in potentially serving as a reviewer, please contact
Dr. Tahira Probst, Associate Editor of Stress
and Health at probst@vancouver.wsu.edu .
- February
9, 2009: Reminder: Please help with the
survey of publication outlets in OHP. Would
you like to know. Where OHP research gets published?
Which journals you can submit your work to?
Which journals OHP practitioners target? How
you can minimise delays and maximise relevance
in publishing your work? Maria Karanika-Murray,
Irvin Schonfeld, and Leigh Schmitt are conducting
a survey that collects information about a
number of journals in terms of their overall
contribution to OHP, theoretical and methodological
rigor, relevance to practice, and whether they
are OHP-specific or OHP-related. The
survey will remain open until June 5, 2009 .

- January
6, 2009: Deadline extended for summer OHP
graduate internship opportunity. The OSHA Office
of Occupational Health Nursing has extended the
deadline for receipt of applications for 2009
Graduate Nurse Internships. These are 8-week
paid summer internship opportunities with OSHA.
Although the announcement focuses on Occupational
Health Nursing, OSHA is also interested in
applications from graduate students with an
OHP background and have ongoing projects in
areas OHP students would be interested in.
This is an excellent opportunity to interact
with important occupational health stakeholders
in Washington DC as well as a chance to work
with a multidisciplinary team. For additional
information, please contact Dr. Bob Nester,
Program Coordinator (nester.robert@dol.gov)
